Our neighbor left several days before S, and his family came to my house to cry and grieve.  Another visitor came by to check on them and said that he couldn’t do this if he had a family…he couldn’t understand how S and our neighbor could leave their families … My response to that comment is (and always has been)”you could do it if God asked you to do it.”  This other person responded, “I think I’d go find a whale instead.””

One of my biggest mentors and wife of an Army Chaplin wrote this Tuesday, about the fist couple of day after her husband S left. All through junior high and high school I heard SAD say, “you could if God asked you to do it.” Each and every time I would come and wine and complain about what as going on in my life. Today as I look at what is going on in my life, the hard dictions I have coming up and wonder if I can really do what I have to do. Then I realized that I have a choice, “do it” or “take the whale instead.”

I do not know why the class of 2008 has had so many mountains to climb over or why we were the class God chose to lead Verity through an administration change. I wish that I could know what God is and was thinking when He choice us to be the Class of 2008, yet He did and here we stand. We with the use of Sherrey’s words can “do it,” because God has asked us to, or will we “find a whale instead.” Many of us have never been placed in jail for being a Christian, never watched our parents die for serving g Christ, and most  have never wondered if today would be the day that the government would find out that we are Christians. So why should we complain about what God places us through, we have life easy compared to most Christians in our world.

We as a class have set our course. We have a solid foundation of Scripture and Christ. We have a wall to rebuild. We have a world to CHANGE. So in the middle of this new trial are we going to rejoice and do what God has called us to do and “do it,” or will we “fide the whale.” Up to now we have done it. My prayer for our class as we finish out these last two weeks is that we will, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

The world is ours, the mountain the LORDS, the crown of glory to be throne at the feet of Christ. What do we have to lose?

So, yes it has been a Long time since I updated….life @ (this means at) Verity has been long, hard and a blessing all @ the same time. This last semester has taught me so much…more than many probably want to know…so I will be short…(yea right)…Quick run down on what I have been up too…US history 1&2 (thanks Jess)…stats…public speaking :/ …and so much more…I thank you kinda get the picture…(if you did not live it with me)…

Alright enough for school now to the “real” reason I’m @ Verity…the people =D…I have gotten to know my class better this year and could not have gotten through this hard time of my life…from blenders…to staying up all night talking…too all the support and encouraging words through stats and chemistry…too ordering @ Dairy Queen...thank you so much for you love and always pointing me to Christ.

This week was a week of lasts and firsts. This was our last week with all the ‘07er and current staff, last week with Papa Shoe speaking in chapel, last week as an underclassman. Then this week was also a week of firsts, the first class to play volleyball @ 5:30am…(YES IT WAS CRAZY BUT IT WAS THE WORTH THE LOSS OF SLEEP FOR THE MEMORIES AND FUN)…First week as an upper classman…First (and may be last) week of working and planning grad…first to pull an all nighter…and the end of my first year of Verity is over…it is hard to believe that just last fall I had no college credits and now I am looking at being a junior in college…(this next year will go way too fast).

This last semester God gave me this verse during my 4 weeks of insane (fun) studding of chemistry, many times as I would think that there was no way for me to see the end of this test that. Times I would just sit and wonder at all that God was giving me. This is just a sampling of what God has been doing in my life.

He says—

Handle me and see

We are to continually praise Him in the temple

He is my deliver

My Rock of Escape

My desire

My strength

My defense

He is a God of mercy

He establishes my thoughts

He will pour out all the blessings of heaven on me.

Whatie, Me, Ra, the other Rachel,

The best thing about all that God has shown me over my first year @ verity is that who He is to me is who He wants to be to everyone who calls on His name for salvation. Looking back I see the faithfulness of my SAVIOR and LORD but also as I look a head I only want what God wants for me.

Looking ahead,

P.S. Sarcastic comments are most welcome
